ARTICLE 1. Name
The name of the Society is “The St. Andrew-Caledonian Society of Calgary.”
ARTICLE 2. Purposes
The Society is a non-profit organization based in Calgary whose purposes are to:
a) Provide a social venue for persons interested in Scottish cultural activities.
b) Cultivate and foster an appreciation for Scottish cultural activities.
c) Contribute to education in and performance of Scottish cultural activities.
d) Provide bursaries or scholarships to deserving individuals interested in Scottish cultural activities.
e) Assist members of the public and the Society who are in need.
f) Facilitate the recording and preservation of the Scottish origin, contribution and character of Alberta.
ARTICLE 3. Philosophy
The Society shall be non-sectarian and activities of the Society shall not be restricted to any person on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation or place of origin.
ARTICLE 4. No Gain
The activities of the Society shall be carried on without gain or direct personal benefit for its members and any profits or accretions to the Society shall be used for the purposes of the Society.
ARTICLE 5. Operations
The operations of the Society shall be primarily carried on in Alberta.
ARTICLE 6. Winding Up
In the event of the winding up or of the dissolution of the Society, all the funds and assets of the Society remaining after the payment or satisfaction of all costs, charges, expenses, and liabilities of the Society, including the remuneration (if any) of a liquidator, and after payment to employees of the Society of any arrears of salaries or wages, and after the payment of any debts of the Society, shall be given, transferred or distributed to one or more such organizations as are registered societies with similar purposes within the Province of Alberta as may be designated by the members of the Society at the time of the winding up or dissolution of the Society.
